Your new place has a pre-installed home security system
Many times after you purchase a house, you’ll find that the previous owners left a smart home system. All the devices function well, are hung in the best areas, and are ready to go. In this example, all you may have to do is to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still come to your home to make sure there are no usability problems, and they might offer options on upgrades. It's a preliminary visit, and you can get your monitoring set up without worrying about any new devices -- unless you add on.
The outgoing homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a small set-up fee to make your life simpler. If the previous owners are downsizing to a condo or retirement community, transferring the home security service may be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and take your existing devices with you
You might want to bring along your existing home security components with you to your new place when you move. Luckily, it's pretty simple to accomplish, as most components are wireless. You can remove each device by yourself or call a Vivint installer to come and take down everything. Then an expert will set up the same devices -- and any new things you want -- in the new place. Your home security contract will remain the same.
